Books Recommended By Bts Members That Every Army Should Read 2020

 

If you have been on the internet for any length of time then you have probably heard of a South Korean band called BTS. they have been taking the world by storm for the past couple of years and they have recently found their way into the booktube community as well which is so great for everyone who is an army and for me too because i have been following BTS since about 2017.

I found that almost all BTS member read and they have some different reading taste.
 
so after doing lots of googling and research i’m gonna tell you guys about books  recommended by BTS members that every army should read and some interesting stories about their book and songs connection.

          BTS RM’s Books

 

 

So RM (namjoon) is the leader of BTS and one of the three rappers in the group. he reads a lot he is very intellectual, also very poetic, his lyrics usually a lot of plays on words and he is also like a genius. he is the only member of bts that speak english fluently and he learned that himself by watching Friends the tv show ( he mention that on the Ellen’s show).

Demian By Hermann Hesse

 
 
This book has inspiration for their music video “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” if you read this book you would know many of scene in this mv inspired by this book. 
 
Plot :-   The main character of this classic novel, Emil Sinclair, is a young boy raised in a bourgeois home, amidst what is described as a Scheinwelt, a play on words that means “world of light” as well as “world of illusion”. Emil’s entire existence can be summarized as a struggle between two worlds: the show world of illusion (related to the Hindu concept of maya) and the real world, the world of spiritual truth. In the course of the novel, accompanied and prompted by his mysterious classmate ‘Max Demian’, he detaches from and revolts against the superficial ideals of the world of appearances and eventually awakens into a realization of self. The novel refers to the idea of Gnosticism, particularly the god Abraxas, showing the influence of Carl Jung’s psychology. According to Hesse, the novel is a story of Jungian individuation, the process of opening up to one’s unconsciousness.

Jojo Moyes Me Before You

Ursula K.Leguin’s Those Who Walk Away From Omelas

 


This story kind of inspiration of BTS song ‘spring day’ and if you notice there is actually Hoardings say ‘omelas’ in the music video.

 

 


Plot :- “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” is a short story originally published in the collection The Wind’s Twelve Quarters.
I actually decided to read this short story because a band I listen to, BTS, created a song and music video based on the concept of this story. I loved the prose, and the message really makes you think. I also recommend reading the author’s notes at the end of the story Very insightful.

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka 

 

 
 
 
Plot :- The story begins with a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, waking to find himself transformed (metamorphosed) into a large, monstrous insect-like creature. The cause of Samsa’s transformation is never revealed, and Kafka himself never gave an explanation. The rest of Kafka’s novella deals with Gregor’s attempts to adjust to his new condition as he deals with being burdensome to his parents and sister, who are repulsed by the horrible, verminous creature Gregor has become.

 

 Kafka On The Shore by haruki murakami

 



‘Kafka On The Shore’ is referred to one of the song by BTS called butterfly and they also directly mention in the lyrics of song which is amazing. 

 

 

 

RM love to read murakami’s books. He recommend various Murakami books such as  1984 and Norwegian Wood.

Jongkook is the the maknae aka youngest member of BTS and the first member of the group that I first started to like.

Plot :- This book tells us what we need to live sincerely as ‘me’. It tells you that you don’t need to feel bad after looking at some rich person’s SNS, that you don’t need to make excuses to yourself, and that you don’t need to be understood by everyone.

 

       BTS J-hope’s Books

 

 

 

j hope is one of the three rappers of the group. j-hope is known for lot of things but most commonly he is very bright and bubbly personality.

suga aka min yoongi is the third and final rappers of the group. his rap in DNA on of my favourites. suga is like having this kind of quiet kindness where he might be not tell you that he loves you are he is happy to see you happy or anything but he clearly feel those things and he express how he feel through his action so here the book that love by suga-

Jin in is the oldest member of the group he is also one of the vocalist. jin is known for how shamelessly confident he is and he is really good at just breaking the ice usually by making fun of himself and definitely his is our worldwide handsome.

I’m Glad You Live Like Bonobono By Kim Shin Hoi

 

 

 

Unfortunately This Book Is Only Written In Korean Language.
 
Plot :-  There are similarities among the people that like Bonobono. They are people who live every day quietly without big dreams, people who prefer comfort to thrills, people who don’t live the life they dreamed of when they were young but do not despair about it, people who know how to give up knowing there are things that can’t get done no matter what, people who know how to listen to other people’s tears and sighs as much as their own, and people who sometimes look lazy without any drive… People who like Bonobono are not especially energetic or bright, but they live on.         BTS Jimin’s Books

 

 

Jimin known for having double personality on one hand he is very soft and sweet and then on the other hand he is very like hardcore.

냉정과 열정사이 Rosso (Between Calm and Passion – Rosso)

 
Plot :- The plot of Between Calm and Passion circles two individuals, Aoi and Junsei, who made a promise to each other when they were 20 years old that on Aoi’s 30th birthday, they would meet again at the Duomo, located in Florence, Italy. ( source )
 
Unfortunately there is no English version of this book only available in Korean. 
 
But there is a movie adaptation for who can’t read Korean. It’s a Japanese film (2001) called “Calmi Cuori Appassionati”.
 

 

             BTS V’s Books

 

 

 



V aka kim taehyung is one of the main vocalists of the group and he is always has so close relationship with his group member.

말의 내공 –  The power of word
 
The book is about how to talk to people in a way you can attract them, talk fluently, deeply, and thoughtfully.
 
Unfortunately there is only a Korean version of this one.

 

P.S – RM is a huge reader and his book recommend list is too long and I had to write other members recommendations too Because of this I’m not added all his recommend books in this list. I would surely write a another blog about that.
